Signing up to judge a tournament for Parents

As a parent of a competing student, you will sign up to judge under the "Family Registration" tab on the tournament home page.

  1. Once you have signed up your students in tab 1, tab 2 is where you will enter your judges. All judges associated with your family will be in the drop down menu.

You will notice that each tournament has its own judging requirement. It can be based on how many events your students have signed up for, or it could just be a fixed amount a tournament has decided they are requiring judges to sign up for. You'll see how many rounds the tournament is requesting you sign up for in the blue box.

Keep in mind that if you don't sign up for what is asked for, it DOES NOT prevent you from finishing your registration. All parents are required to attend the tournament and judge as much as possible, regardless of which rounds you signed up for. There are exceptions of course, which can be communicated to the tournament director if a parent is unable to fulfill their judge requirement.

  1. Once you select your judge, the tournament rounds will show up and you can select which rounds you plan on judging.

  1. In the "Conficts" box, you will enter the clubs you have a conflict with. This information will pull from your default judge settings, but you can enter more if needed.

  1. Comments. This box is to list individual conflicts that are NOT part of your family. All family conflicts are automatic and do not need to be listed. This would be for students from another family, and another club. You can also type any other comment you'd like.

Once you have hit submit on the bottom, you'll be able to see your summary by clicking on the "Summary" tab.

If you want to edit any of the rounds, simply click back on the Judges tab, select which judge you want to edit, edit the rounds, and hit update.

FAQ

I am a parent but I am sending my student with another family, and no one from my family will be there to judge. What do I do?

The first step is to get permission from the tournament to be able to send your student without a family member there. Once you have received permission, ask for a judge override code.

Once you have the code, register your student for the tournament in all of their events. When you get to the judge tab, you'll see a box that says "Judge Requirement Override Code".

When you enter that code and hit submit, you'll bypass the judge requirement and you can then proceed to the Pay Fees & Complete Registration tab to complete your registration.

I won't be able to judge as many rounds as I'm being asked to. Will that prevent me from registering my student?

Yes. If you will not be able to fulfill your judge requirements, you will need to contact the tournament director to either get a bypass code, or get permission to sign up for enough rounds with the understanding that you won't be able to be there for all those rounds. Remember, signing up for rounds is only part of the commitment. Showing up and judging is the most important part.
